RSF denies SAF’s claim of retaking Bara in North Kordofan

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) denied on Thursday General al-Burhan’s army (SAF) announcement that it had retaken the town of Bara in North Kordofan, insisting their units remain in the area.

An RSF statement carried by Sudanese media rejected the claim as false and said its fighters continue operations in the wider Kordofan theater.

The SAF earlier said its forces entered Bara and expelled RSF fighters as part of a wider push that also targeted Kazgeil, al-Riyash, Umm Dam Haj Ahmed and Umm Siyala near El Obeid. Several Arabic outlets carried the SAF’s version on Thursday.

In a parallel message the same day, RSF public channels highlighted what they described as the downing of a foreign drone near Al-Khuwei in West Kordofan—an assertion presented as evidence of continued RSF activity in the region. Asharq Al-Awsat reported the drone claim while noting the SAF’s push around Bara.
