The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Sunday accused Al-Hadath TV of airing biased and misleading coverage from Sudan’s Kordofan region.
In a strongly worded statement, RSF said the broadcaster had shown footage alongside fighters it identified as members of the Muslim Brotherhood.
According to the RSF, the report depicted staged “security operations” and promoted what it called fabricated battlefield gains that did not reflect the situation on the ground.
The group accused the channel of abandoning neutrality and taking sides in Sudan’s ongoing and deadly conflict.
It said the coverage breached fundamental journalistic standards, including objectivity, balance and accuracy in reporting on armed confrontations.
Media outlets, the RSF added, have a responsibility to inform the public rather than advance political or military agendas.
The statement also alleged that the report downplayed or ignored violations against civilians in Kordofan, Darfur and other conflict-hit areas.
The RSF urged regional and international media organisations to uphold professional ethics and reporting standards.
It called on the channel’s management to reassess its editorial policies and assume full professional responsibility.
The group vowed to confront what it described as disinformation efforts and attempts to sanitise extremist factions.
Sudan has been gripped by conflict since April 2023, with rival forces fighting for control as civilian suffering deepens.
The row highlights the parallel information battle surrounding Sudan’s war, where competing narratives accompany the fighting on the ground.
