RSF general Dagalo denounces Sudan’s army abuses

In a strongly worded statement issued today, Rapid Support Forces general Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, commonly known as Hemeti, expressed deep dismay over recent video footage depicting gruesome atrocities committed by members of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and allied militias associated with the former regime.

The footage, which has circulated widely, shows militants engaged in brutal acts of violence against innocent civilians, including the mutilation and display of severed limbs.

“These horrific acts are deeply disturbing and utterly reprehensible,” declared Daglo, emphasizing the systematic nature of the abuses perpetrated by SAF and its affiliated jihadist militias.

He stressed that such actions flagrantly violate the values, ethics, and standards cherished by the Sudanese people, as well as international legal frameworks and moral principles.

Dagalo vehemently denounced the targeting of civilians on ethnic and tribal grounds, characterizing it as a threat not only to Sudan’s stability but also to regional security.

He called upon the international community and humanitarian organizations to condemn these acts unequivocally and take decisive action against the perpetrators linked to the former regime.

Asserting the commitment of Sudanese forces to uphold international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions, Daglo affirmed their dedication to ending the current conflict and advancing the aspirations of the Sudanese people for freedom, justice, and equality.

He reiterated their refusal to engage in the reprehensible conduct witnessed in the circulated videos.

The statement comes amid growing concerns about human rights violations in Sudan and underscores the urgent need for accountability and justice.

As calls for action reverberate both domestically and internationally, the spotlight remains on Sudan’s efforts to address the root causes of violence and ensure the protection of civilians in conflict-affected areas.
