RSF leader Dagalo announces creation of new Sudanese govt

In a bold move marking the second anniversary of Sudan’s war, the leader of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) declared the formation of a rival government.

Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, chief of the RSF, announced the creation of the “Government of Peace and Unity” in a statement released on Telegram.

Dagalo emphasised that the new government represents a “broad coalition,” one that he claims reflects the true face of Sudan.

His declaration comes amid ongoing violence and instability, as the country remains divided in a deadly conflict between armed factions.

The announcement marks a significant escalation in the war, as the RSF seeks to challenge the General Abdel Fattah al Burhan’s army.

The declaration of a rival administration intensifies the power struggle between these opposing forces, further complicating the already dire humanitarian situation.

As Sudan’s war rages on, the formation of the Government of Peace and Unity sets the stage for a new phase in the country’s turbulent political landscape.

The declaration by Dagalo signals his intent to assert control, positioning the RSF as a formidable force in the conflict.
