The Sudanese Founding Alliance (TASIS) has accused the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) of killing at least 12 civilians in airstrikes on Umm Qurfa and nearby villages in North Kordofan.
In a statement on Sunday, the Alliance said SAF aircraft targeted Umm Qurfa and the villages of Al-Hariz Al-Hamadab, Wad Musa, Al-Markha and Umm Taqirat.
The group said the attacks involved Iranian-made vacuum bombs and barrel bombs dropped from Antonov aircraft.
According to the statement, five people, including three shepherds and two women, were killed in Umm Qurfa, while livestock also died near water sources.
The alliance said seven civilians, including two children and two elderly men, were killed in strikes on the other villages, while 18 people were wounded.
It said SAF deliberately targeted civilians, water sources and civilian gatherings, calling the attacks war crimes and a form of collective punishment.
The Alliance said the strikes violated international humanitarian law and urged the international community, the United Nations and the African Union to take urgent action.
It also called for accountability for those responsible and said its forces reserved the right to respond to attacks on civilians under international law and legitimate self-defence.
