Sisi, Trump adviser stress urgency of ending Sudan war

Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Massad Boulos underscored the need to end the war in Sudan and alleviate the country’s worsening humanitarian crisis during talks in Cairo, the Egyptian presidency said.

According to a statement released Monday, the two discussed recent developments in Sudan and agreed on the “importance of exerting all necessary efforts to stop the war and end the humanitarian suffering of the Sudanese people.”

Sisi reiterated Egypt’s position on the conflict, stressing the need to preserve Sudan’s sovereignty and territorial unity, while rejecting foreign interference and attempts to undermine the country’s stability or create a political vacuum.

He also highlighted Cairo’s “active engagement” in the Quad mechanism — involving Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and the United States — aimed at halting the fighting and launching a political process leading to a sustainable resolution.

Boulos, for his part, affirmed Washington’s commitment to close coordination with Egypt and the Quad countries in efforts to resolve the crisis, the statement added.
