Sources: Hamas and IRGC leave Wadi Sayidna base, cross into Eritrea

Members of Hamas and Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) departed Sudan for Eritrea on Thursday, a day after Israeli strikes targeted Hamas leaders in Doha, according to Alrakoba, which cited unnamed sources.

The sources said the operatives had been based at General al-Burhan’s SAF Wadi Sayidna facility, where they were involved in maintaining and operating drones and training air-defense personnel. They reportedly left Omdurman for Kassala before crossing into Eritrea.

Alrakoba reported that an Arab-Islamic summit is expected in Doha in the coming days to agree on a coordinated response aimed at deterring Israel.

Eritrea is described as a key ally of SAF in its war with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), providing training camps for SAF-aligned groups and facilitating the transfer of Egyptian support into Sudan. Reports also point to training sites inside Eritrea for Sudanese fighters from eastern and western groups such as the Popular Front for the Liberation of Justice and the Beja Congress.

In November, the RSF said it carried out a “special operation” at the Wadi Sayidna military zone north of Omdurman, destroying aircraft, drones and vehicles, and targeting “foreign experts linked to the IRGC.” The army did not comment at the time.
