The Sudanese army said it had captured 11 areas in North Kordofan following fighting with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), as clashes continued across the western part of the state.
In a statement on Thursday, the Sudanese Armed Forces said its troops and allied formations had taken control of Kajmar, Sharshar, Al-Baniyah Al-Kurayniyah, Al-Qulay’at, Awlad Hazmah, Magwildat, Rayshan, Al-Qaa, Ghabat Al-Laqad, Al-Kukaiti and territory surrounding Al-Mazrub.
The army also said its forces had pursued RSF units westward and carried out operations in areas west of the state capital, El Obeid.
The RSF did not immediately issue a public response to the claims.
The battlefield account could not be independently verified.
The latest fighting comes amid intensified military activity along the Forty Days Road, a desert route linking Kordofan with Darfur that has been used by both sides during the conflict.
Military sources cited by Sudan Tribune said operations launched early Thursday targeted positions near Sodari, Umm Badr and Hamrat al-Sheikh in western North Kordofan.
Darfur regional governor Minni Minawi, whose Joint Force factions are allied with the army, welcomed the reported advance in a post on X.
The army and allied forces had previously announced gains around Bara, Jabrat al-Sheikh and other transit points in North Kordofan.
Sudan Tribune also reported that drone strikes had been carried out across parts of North and West Kordofan ahead of the latest ground operations, with military sources saying the strikes were aimed at RSF supply and reinforcement routes.
Footage circulated by pro-army social media accounts appeared to show troops in recently contested areas, although the locations and timing of the videos could not be independently confirmed.
Control of territory across North Kordofan has shifted repeatedly during the war, and fighting remains active across several areas west of El Obeid.
