Key political and civil society leaders from Sudan, along with international delegates, are set to convene in Nairobi on Tuesday to announce the formation of a Sudanese “Peace and Unity Government,” in what is being described as a significant political event.
According to the organizing committee overseeing the signing ceremony of the political charter for the proposed government, delegations from both inside Sudan and abroad have already begun arriving in the Kenyan capital to participate.
Several leaders from Sudanese political factions and traditional authorities backing the new government are traveling to Nairobi, viewing the signing of the political charter as a pivotal step toward establishing an inclusive civilian-led administration aimed at reshaping Sudan’s political landscape.
The charter is intended to lay the constitutional foundation for the new government amid mounting political and security challenges in Sudan. The signatories hope to foster cooperation and unity to achieve national stability.
A wide range of political and civil entities are expected to attend the signing, including the United Civilian Forces Alliance (Qimam), the Unified Federal Party, the National Umma Party, the Federal Party, the Revolutionary Front, armed movements, and other civil and community organizations.
Some leaders have already begun coordinating travel through neighboring countries to join the event, which will serve as the official announcement of the political charter and constitutional framework for the anticipated Peace and Unity Government.
