Sudanese refugees cross border into overcrowded Chad

Escalating fighting across West and North Darfur has forced thousands of civilians to flee their homes.

Residents from more than 20 villages fled into remote areas or crossed into Chad, where hundreds sought refuge at the overcrowded Kaliari camp.

Many displaced families now lack adequate shelter as the rainy season raises the risk of disease outbreaks.

Another wave of civilians is fleeing toward Al-Tina after heavy fighting in Abu Qumra, arriving on foot or by donkey cart.

The influx has overwhelmed local services, with women, children, and older people making up most of the displaced.

Border clinics are struggling with severe shortages of medicines and supplies as the humanitarian crisis deepens.

The border towns remain among the last government-held areas following recent opposition advances.
