The Sudan Founding Alliance, known as TASIS, has accused the Sudanese army and allied forces of executing more than 23 civilians after capturing Sodari in North Kordofan, calling for an independent investigation.
In a statement reported by Radio Dabanga on Friday, alliance spokesman Ahmed Tugod alleged that the victims were killed in a public square after being accused of stealing from markets.
The alleged killings followed the army’s takeover of the town last week.
TASIS accused the army and the allied Joint Force of carrying out extrajudicial killings, describing the alleged incident as part of a wider pattern of abuses.
Dabanga said it could not independently corroborate the allegations. Its report included no response from the army or the Joint Force.
The alliance demanded a transparent investigation meeting international standards, accountability for those responsible and access to justice for victims.
The accusations come amid further fighting in North Kordofan. On Friday, the army announced that it had captured Mazroub following battles with the Rapid Support Forces.
Mazroub lies along routes connecting North Kordofan with corridors towards Darfur, giving it importance in the struggle over movement and supply lines. The army also claimed to have inflicted heavy losses on RSF fighters, without providing a detailed casualty toll. Those claims have not been independently verified.
