The Sudan Founding Alliance (TASIS) government has suspended transactions involving state-owned land and public spaces and banned the export of charcoal, firewood and unprocessed timber.
The decisions were issued during the government’s first cabinet meeting in Nyala, the capital of South Darfur, chaired by Prime Minister Mohamed Hassan al-Taishi.
Government spokesperson Khalid Danaa said the cabinet had ordered the cancellation of all transactions involving government land and public spaces carried out after April 15, 2023. It also revoked previous licences and approvals permitting charcoal, firewood and raw timber exports.
The land measures follow growing controversy in Nyala over the alleged allocation of public spaces originally designated for mosques, youth centres and health facilities.
Judicial authorities affiliated with the TASIS government have opened investigations into suspected land-related violations and detained several civil administration officials pending inquiries.
The cabinet also established a committee to evacuate educational institutions currently sheltering displaced families and provide alternative accommodation for those affected.
Another committee will review Ministerial Decision No. 1, which regulates the registration and accreditation of national and international organisations operating in areas administered by the government.
Ministers approved the cabinet’s internal regulations, the government’s strategic framework and guidelines for a temporary 2026 operating budget.
A senior committee was also established to identify government assets and premises, oversee their evacuation and formally transfer them to the relevant authorities.
The cabinet urged residents of El Fasher to complete their return to the city as the TASIS government continues establishing administrative structures across territories under the control of the Rapid Support Forces and their allies.
The meeting was the first held by the TASIS cabinet in Nyala and lasted approximately 13 days. It followed the swearing-in of ministers before Presidential Council Chairman and RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo.
