Mubarak al-Fadil warned that holding Sudan’s upcoming dialogue only in Sudan’s Armed Forces-controlled areas could deepen the country’s political divisions.
The Umma Party leader said most anti-war forces would refuse to join talks limited to territories held by the SAF.
He cautioned that such an exclusive process could strengthen the military rule established after the October 2021 coup.
Al-Fadil instead backed the Quintet dialogue, saying a neutral platform could allow broader participation from across Sudan.
He said future talks should focus on building consensus for a democratic transition and adopting a transitional civilian constitution.
Meanwhile, sources said consultations are underway to broaden civilian participation by suspending pending criminal charges and forming a preparatory committee.
