Workshop in Istanbul discusses solutions to Sudan crisis

A significant workshop titled “Sudan Crisis and Solution Proposals” was held in Istanbul, organized by the Human Rights and Freedoms (IHH) Humanitarian Relief Foundation.

The event, hosted at the IHH Headquarters, aimed to explore the political, social, humanitarian, and regional impacts of the ongoing Sudanese crisis. It focused on crafting actionable solutions to contribute to peace.

Serhat Orakci, Coordination Officer of the event and Assistant Professor at Halic University, emphasized the workshop’s objective to assess recent developments in Sudan.

The main focus was on peacebuilding and presenting potential solutions for the war-torn nation.

Orakçı highlighted that Sudan had been engulfed in conflict for nearly two years.

He noted, “While the search for peace continues amidst ongoing conflict, this effort must be strengthened. Turkey is now eager to play a more proactive role in these efforts.”

According to Orakci, the workshop provided a platform to exchange ideas, gather opinions from Sudanese individuals, and propose tangible suggestions that could lead to lasting peace.

Mohammad Othman Al-Baroudi, another key speaker, emphasized Sudan’s need for global mediators to broker a genuine agreement.

“Sudan expects real action, not just talks,” he stated. He also suggested that Turkey could play a pivotal role in fostering peace, particularly alongside other nations, rather than focusing solely on Sudan’s relations with the UAE.

The first part of the workshop featured speeches addressing rising violence in Sudan, the search for peace, and the importance of national integration.

In the second part, attendees actively contributed their thoughts on creating a path to peace.

The workshop concluded with a shared commitment to supporting Sudan’s journey toward stability and peace.
