RSF condemns SAF airstrikes targeting civilians and holy sites

Sudan’s conflict escalated dramatically today as General al-Burhan’s forces (SAF) launched a series of devastating airstrikes on densely populated areas of Khartoum and Omdurman.

Among the targets were the Sheikh Ahmed Mosque in the Shambat neighborhood and the bustling Al-Gash Market in western Omdurman

The attacks resulted in dozens of casualties, including women and children, leaving burned bodies and shattered communities in their wake.

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in a statement on Sunday have denounced these assaults, describing them as part of a systematic campaign of terror. They condemned the SAF’s actions as violations of international law and humanity, accusing them of deliberately targeting civilians and sacred sites.

“These attacks on worshippers and markets expose the SAF’s disregard for human life and international norms,” the RSF stated. “This is not just a military conflict; it is a campaign of oppression and genocide orchestrated by extremist elements within their ranks.”

The RSF called on the global community and human rights organizations to intervene, urging them to condemn the violence and hold those responsible accountable. “Silence in the face of these atrocities is complicity,” the statement declared.

RSF reaffirmed its commitment to achieving peace and liberating Sudan from what it described as a legacy of tyranny.

The ongoing violence highlights the dire need for international attention and intervention as Sudan descends deeper into crisis.
