The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have issued a statement rejecting accusations that they targeted civilians in El Fasher, dismissing the claims as unfounded propaganda aimed at distorting the reality on the ground.
According to the RSF, the real threat to civilians comes from what it described as Islamist militias and mercenaries from armed movements, who it accused of using residents as human shields to block RSF advances.
The statement said the RSF has consistently prioritized civilian safety, citing previous evacuations of more than 800,000 people through humanitarian corridors in areas such as Qarni, Hilla al-Sheikh, Shaqra and West Golo. The evacuees were relocated to safer towns including Tawila, Kurma and Shangil Tobay, in coordination with the Sudan Founding Alliance (TASIS).
The RSF said it has formed humanitarian committees that have delivered direct aid to hundreds of thousands after their evacuation. It accused rival militias of detaining civilians, forcing them into so-called “popular resistance” groups, and using coercion to bolster their ranks.
The force called on the international community, diplomats, and media outlets to verify information before publishing, warning against what it described as lies spread by “terrorist and mercenary platforms” after their battlefield setbacks.
The RSF reiterated its readiness to continue opening safe passages for civilians leaving El Fasher and to ensure their full protection. It also said it welcomed the departure of military personnel from the city, pledging to treat them in line with international humanitarian law, and reaffirmed its commitment to ending the conflict in pursuit of nationwide peace, justice and democracy.
