An increasing number of new men are joining the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Kabkabiya, a city about 155 kilometres west of El Fasher in North Darfur. Local sources said the RSF has intensified its recruitment campaign in recent months, drawing in hundreds of new people from Kabkabiya and surrounding areas.
Eyewitnesses reported that the group has turned the city’s industrial school into a full-scale military training camp for new recruits. A resident said the camp was established around four months ago, coinciding with fierce clashes in El Fasher and the halt of air operations in the region.
He added that dozens of men have joined the centre, where training continues daily under close RSF supervision. Another local source reported that recruits have also arrived from Saraf Omra, Al-Sarif Bani Hussein, and nearby villages, along with defectors from the Revolutionary Awakening Council led by Musa Hilal.
The source said the industrial school, once dedicated to vocational education, has been completely transformed into a training facility overseen by RSF commander Abdullah Maala. Kabkabiya has remained under RSF control since 2023, after the General Abdel Fattah al Burhan’s amry controlled SAF withdrew to their main base in El Fasher.
