The Sudan Founding Alliance (Tasis) condemned what it described as a drone strike on Saturday that hit unarmed civilians in the city of Kuma, North Darfur, killing more than 20 people and injuring dozens.
In a statement, Tasis accused the “Terrorist Islamic Movement Army” of carrying out the attack and said it formed part of “systematic crimes” amounting to genocide against communities in Darfur. The alliance expressed condolences to the families of the dead and wished a swift recovery to the wounded, including women and children.
Tasis called on the international community, regional bodies and human-rights organisations to take a firm stance against repeated violations, act urgently to halt the targeting of civilians, and ensure protection for residents in areas it said are free of any military presence.
Casualty figures and responsibility claims could not be independently verified. Other parties to the conflict did not immediately comment.
