SARHO delivers 202 aid trucks to Darfur in two weeks

The Sudanese Agency for Relief and Humanitarian Operations (SARHO) announced that it successfully facilitated 202 aid trucks to Darfur within two weeks.

The deliveries included food and non-food supplies, marking a key milestone in ongoing efforts to assist populations affected by the region’s conflict.

From October 2nd to 8th, SARHO coordinated the arrival of 65 aid trucks to West, Central, South, and East Darfur states.

In South Darfur, 34 trucks carrying 1,483 tons of foodstuffs reached displaced persons and vulnerable families, supported by the World Food Programme and World Vision.

During the same week, SARHO conducted 55 humanitarian operations, including issuing transit permits for international workers and transporting supplies to relief organisations.

East Darfur received 22 trucks of food aid, distributed across localities and administrative units, with logistical support from the World Food Programme.

In West Darfur, five trucks of aid arrived, while 35 transit permits were issued to facilitate humanitarian operations in targeted areas.

Central Darfur saw four trucks delivered, containing maize, rice, oil, and lentils, with Catholic Relief Services managing distribution on the ground.

Between September 25th and October 2nd, 75 WFP-supported trucks reached South Darfur, supplying IDP camps such as Kalma, Otash, Dereig, and Al-Salam, alongside vulnerable families in Nyala and surrounding cities.

Additionally, SARHO coordinated 62 trucks to East and West Darfur, reaching 14,794 families in Kulbus with the assistance of the World Relief Organization.

In partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross and Sudanese Red Crescent, the agency implemented a cash transfer program aiding 4,000 families, including the elderly and widows in Zalingei.

SARHO reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring timely humanitarian aid delivery through strengthened coordination with local and international partners, prioritising efficiency and security.
