The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have accused external actors of carrying out drone strikes on the cities of Zalingei and Kabkabiya in the Darfur region, saying the attacks caused dozens of civilian casualties, including women and children.
In a statement, the RSF described the strikes as a “heinous aggression,” claiming they were carried out by what it referred to as the “army of the terrorist Islamic Movement,” with support from foreign parties whose involvement in the Sudanese conflict it said continues to increase.
The accusations come amid intensifying fighting across Darfur, where both General al-Burhan’s army (SAF) and the RSF have traded blame for targeting civilian areas and using drones as the conflict enters its many months of violence.
There has so far been no official response from the Sudanese army or from international organisations regarding these claims.
