UN warns Sudan war pushes humanitarian needs to record highs

Humanitarian needs in Sudan have reached unprecedented levels, with more than 30 million people requiring aid as war and insecurity deepen nationwide.

The United Nations said the conflict has carved a humanitarian abyss, leaving families exposed to hunger, displacement, and collapsing basic services.

In a statement, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reported 30.4 million people now need assistance, the highest figure since fighting began.

OCHA warned that intensified clashes across several states are accelerating civilian suffering and overwhelming already strained relief efforts.

Without urgent improvements in security and access, the agency cautioned, Sudan’s crisis will continue to expand, multiplying needs and human misery.
