European leaders cast doubt on Trump’s board of peace plan

European leaders voiced deep reservations Friday about President Donald Trump’s proposed “Board of Peace,” questioning its reach, structure, and legal grounding.

Antonio Costa said after an EU summit in Brussels that the bloc doubts whether the body aligns with the UN Charter.

He warned that uncertainties remain over the board’s scope and governance, casting shadows over its legitimacy and operational authority.

Despite concerns, Costa said European leaders are prepared to work with Washington on implementing a comprehensive peace plan for Gaza.

He added that the proposed board could serve as a transitional administration, guiding the territory through a fragile and sensitive period.

The remarks underscored Europe’s cautious openness, blending scepticism with diplomacy as leaders seek a workable path toward stability.
