US imposes sanctions on eight linked to Burhan army networks

The United States has imposed new sanctions on Friday targeting eight individuals and entities linked to procurement networks connected to General Abdel Fattah al Burhan’s army.

According to the US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control, the measures focus on Sudanese and foreign companies accused of supplying chemicals and military-related equipment.

Among those designated is Ports Engineering Company Limited, a state-owned firm based in Port Sudan, which Washington says was involved in supplying chlorine and other chemicals with potential military applications.

The Treasury also sanctioned Sudanese businessman Tariq Hussein Mohammed Madani, citing his alleged links to Target Multi-Activities Limited and involvement in chemical trade networks.

The list further includes companies and individuals from India, Panama, and Colombia, accused of supporting logistics networks tied to Burhan’s army.

Under Executive Order 14098, the sanctions freeze any US assets held by the designated parties and prohibit American entities from conducting financial transactions with them.
