Joint Forces accused of abducting and torturing civilian in Omdurman

A Sudanese rights monitor has accused the SAF-allied Joint Forces of abducting and torturing a civilian in Omdurman, in the latest reported abuse involving armed groups fighting alongside Sudan’s military junta.

The Sudanese National Observatory for Human Rights said Hussein Nasr al-Din al-Kreishabi was seized from his home in the Ombadda area of Omdurman without legal grounds.

According to the watchdog, local reports indicated that Hussein was subjected to harsh detention and torture, including having his hair shaved and being forced under duress to make fabricated confessions. The group said the victim had no known connection to any military activity.

The observatory condemned what it described as continuing violations by Joint Forces militias, calling for urgent intervention by relevant authorities and human rights organisations to halt the abuses, hold those responsible accountable and protect civilians from further violations.

The reported incident comes amid growing allegations of abductions, killings and torture by Joint Forces units in several parts of Sudan. Rights groups say civilians have been targeted without legal procedures, while official authorities have largely remained silent over abuses committed by militias fighting alongside the SAF under Abdel Fattah al-Burhan.
