Disagreements have reportedly emerged within the Sumoud coalition delegation in New York over differences in hotel accommodation and transport arrangements, according to Sudanese media reports.
Sources familiar with the delegation said several members objected after being booked into lower-rated hotels and were not provided with private transportation during their stay in the city.
According to the reports, the members said they were seeking equal treatment with Sumoud leader Abdalla Hamdok, who was staying at a five-star hotel.
Sudanese newspaper Al-Sudani reported that the issue prompted complaints within the delegation over what some members viewed as unequal accommodation arrangements.
Hamdok responded by saying that the costs of his travel and accommodation in New York had been paid entirely from his own personal funds.
He said his expenses had not been charged to the delegation or the coalition’s budget.
The dispute comes as Sudanese political groups and rival delegations hold meetings in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, amid renewed diplomatic activity surrounding efforts to end Sudan’s war.
