In a recent report by industry analysts East Fruit, Zimbabwe has been identified as the global leader in blueberry export growth.
The country has witnessed an unparalleled surge in blueberry exports, outpacing all other nations in this domain.
Key markets for Zimbabwe’s blueberry exports include South Africa, various European Union nations, the United Kingdom, Russia, and the Middle East.
Over the last five years, Zimbabwe has consistently increased its blueberry exports by an average of 63% annually. Notably, in 2022 alone, exports soared by an impressive 85%, propelling the nation into the top 15 countries for blueberry exports.
This surge also enabled Zimbabwe to surpass Serbia in export volume, a noteworthy achievement mentioned by a UN Food and Agriculture Organization official cited in the East Fruit report.
This remarkable development has been met with enthusiasm by Zimbabwean media, with the state-owned Herald hailing it as evidence of the country’s resurgence as a significant food-producing nation.
