Zambia’s Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) seized 1.6 million counterfeit US dollars in Lusaka on Friday.
The operation uncovered a significant amount of fake currency in the capital.
The DEC arrested five local individuals connected to the criminal syndicate.
They confiscated 1,639,800 in counterfeit US notes during the operation.
Commission spokesman Allan Tamba reported that their Zimbabwean accomplice, Garry Williams, remains at large.
Authorities are actively working to locate and arrest him.
Additionally, DEC seized a Toyota IST with the registration number BLA 5957, which was used to transport the counterfeit currency.
The operation highlights ongoing efforts to combat currency fraud and disrupt criminal networks involved in such activities.
