Libya protests follow clashes, leading to minister resignations

Libya’s Economy and Trade Minister Mohamed al-Hawij has resigned from the internationally recognized government.

He informed Reuters of his decision, joining at least two other ministers who also resigned earlier on Friday.

These resignations come amidst ongoing protests in the capital city.

The protests follow a period of violent clashes that occurred earlier in the week.

The other two ministers who resigned are Minister of Local Government Badr al-Tumi and Minister of Housing Abu Bakr al-Ghawi.
