Al-Shabaab militants launched a deadly attack on a Kenyan police station, killing six officers and injuring four others.
The assault took place early on Sunday morning at a police reservist camp in Biyamadhow, Garissa County, located near the Kenya-Somalia border.
The militants, suspected to be members of the Al-Shabaab group, overran the camp using an array of weapons.
The police confirmed the six fatalities, with four officers receiving medical treatment for injuries.
This attack is part of a broader pattern of violence linked to Al-Shabaab, a terrorist group that has been waging war against the Somali government for over 15 years.
The group has increasingly targeted Kenya, in part due to the country’s military involvement against Al-Shabaab in Somalia.
Al-Shabaab has a significant presence in the Boni Forest area, which lies on the border between Kenya and Somalia.
The group has been responsible for numerous attacks in Kenya, including this recent deadly raid, and continues to pose a major security threat in the region.
