Tensions surged after South Sudanese forces arrested officials linked to Machar, amidst clashes with the White Army militia.
These arrests followed accusations of collaboration between Machar’s faction and the militia.

South Sudan, independent since 2011, faces renewed conflict despite a 2018 peace agreement.
