In a groundbreaking move, Libyan National Unity Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dibeybe declared that the state will cover all expenses for Libyans performing the Hajj pilgrimage in 2025.
During a meeting with the Hakomitna platform, part of the Libyan National Unity administration, Dibeybe confirmed that the government would finance the entire cost for Libyan citizens who undertake the sacred journey.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the total cost of the pilgrimage, estimated to exceed 50,000 Libyan dinars (roughly $8,700), will be fully covered by the state.
However, Dibeybe also noted that citizens who prefer to fund their journey independently may do so.
This initiative aims to support the spiritual aspirations of Libyans, especially those who may find the financial burden of Hajj prohibitive.
It comes as part of broader efforts to foster national unity and provide citizens with the opportunity to fulfill this important religious duty.
The Libyan Hajj and Umrah Commission has already announced plans to send 7,800 Libyans to the holy lands for the Hajj in 2025.
This announcement is expected to be a source of hope and joy for many in the country.
As Libya looks toward 2025, this commitment reflects the government’s dedication to ensuring its citizens can participate in one of Islam’s most revered rituals without financial hardship.
