The United Kingdom, Australia and Canada strongly condemned Israel on Friday for closing its investigation into a 2024 Gaza airstrike that killed seven World Central Kitchen aid workers.
Israel’s military said Wednesday it would not pursue criminal charges over the April 2024 attack, without providing further details.
The strike hit clearly marked aid vehicles despite the workers’ route being coordinated with Israeli military authorities, sparking international outrage.
In a joint statement, the three countries urged Israel to meet its obligations under international humanitarian law and protect aid workers operating in conflict zones.
They said failing to conduct transparent investigations into alleged violations could undermine the international rules-based order.
The governments have repeatedly called for accountability over the deaths of humanitarian workers in Gaza.
Israel defended its decision to close the probe while saying it would investigate two other cases. It also dropped three separate inquiries into previous strikes.
