Dagalo says TASIS committed to regional, international peace efforts

Rapid Support Forces commander and Sudan Founding Alliance (TASIS) Presidential Council Chairman Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo has reaffirmed his commitment to international and regional efforts aimed at ending Sudan’s war, TASIS said.

In a statement, TASIS said Dagalo, widely known as Hemedti, discussed the situation in Sudan during a phone call with Massad Boulos, senior adviser to the US president for Arab and African affairs.

The talks focused on the latest political and humanitarian developments in Sudan, as well as efforts to halt the conflict and support a negotiated settlement.

According to TASIS, Dagalo expressed appreciation for the attention given by the US administration to the Sudanese crisis and its efforts to help end the war and address the country’s worsening humanitarian conditions.

He also affirmed the commitment of the TASIS government to continue working within international and regional initiatives, particularly the Quad mechanism, to remove obstacles facing peaceful solutions.

TASIS said Dagalo stressed that any political process must meet the aspirations of the Sudanese people for a new state founded on freedom, peace and justice.

The statement comes amid growing diplomatic efforts to revive a political track for Sudan, where the war between the Sudanese army and the RSF has entered its fourth year.

TASIS, which declared a parallel civilian-led administration in areas outside the control of the Port Sudan-based SAF junta, has repeatedly said that a negotiated settlement must address the roots of the conflict and dismantle the influence of Sudan’s former regime networks.

Sudan’s conflict erupted in April 2023 and has since killed tens of thousands of people, displaced millions and pushed the country into one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises.
