An armed attack on a civilian vehicle near Dubeibat in South Kordofan left several people dead and others injured on Tuesday.
The truck was travelling from Al-Baraka village to Al-Fula city when gunmen on motorcycles intercepted it along the road, according to relatives.
A family member, Qusay Ishiqar, said the attackers tried to force the driver to stop. When he refused, they opened fire.
Gunfire ripped through the vehicle, turning a routine journey into a moment of chaos and fear for unarmed passengers.
Multiple fatalities, including Fatima Mohamed Hammad Asousa, with several others, were reportedly seriously wounded.
The injured were taken to the Al-Buqalti area for treatment as families scrambled to respond in the aftermath.
Those killed were later buried in nearby Al-Musaba’at, as grief spread through communities already under strain from insecurity.
Ishiqar said early indications point to a failed looting attempt, amid a rise in armed attacks across South Kordofan.
He added that Fatima Asousa was the widow of medical assistant Abdul Baqi Mohammed Ahmed Hamed, who was killed in a similar attack last year.
