Fake doctor accused of performing C-sections in West Kordofan

Residents in West Kordofan have raised alarm over deteriorating conditions at Al-Nahud Teaching Hospital, alleging that a man without formal medical qualifications has been carrying out Caesarean sections and other procedures amid a severe shortage of trained staff.

Residents told Darfur24 on Saturday that the man, identified only by the initials “M.M.,” has no recognised academic qualification in medicine and is believed to have acquired his experience through years of informal medical practice.

According to the residents, he has been performing Caesarean deliveries and minor surgical procedures inside the hospital, which they said is also suffering from poor sanitation and neglect. They described parts of the facility as heavily overgrown with vegetation due to the lack of maintenance.

Local residents also said Al-Nahud’s main referral hospital had recently resumed operations after being closed for around 15 days by the Rapid Support Forces.

Multiple sources told Darfur24 that the hospital had been shut since the beginning of August on the orders of the RSF because of concerns that it could be targeted by the Sudanese army’s air force.

During the closure, private medical centres were reportedly used as temporary alternatives for receiving wounded and injured people before the hospital reopened at the beginning of last week.

The allegations concerning the unqualified practitioner could not be independently verified, and Darfur24 did not report any response from hospital administrators or health authorities.
