General Burhan’s SAF intensifies airstrikes in North Darfur

General al-Burhan’s SAF has intensified aerial bombings on El Koma, North Darfur, forcing residents and displaced people to flee in search of safety.

Despite the town remaining outside the control of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), aid and intervention remain absent.

Civil society activist Saleh Harirein reported to Radio Dabanga that El Koma has endured around 70 airstrikes since the conflict began, with most occurring in the past two months.

Hundreds have died, and bombings now happen almost daily, with four strikes this week alone.

Residents unable to flee seek refuge in the open during the day, returning to their homes at night despite freezing temperatures. Harirein condemned the airstrikes, citing no RSF presence to justify the attacks, and criticized the lack of government or international response.

El Koma, a strategic hub linking eastern and western Sudan, is home to over 45,000 displaced families.

Despite hosting humanitarian aid distribution for North Darfur, residents themselves receive no relief, facing food shortages and a lack of medicines.

Harirein urged immediate action from relief organizations to address the dire humanitarian crisis.
