Human rights body urges UN intervention in Sudan

A leading human rights organization has called for urgent international intervention in Sudan.

Sudan has been embroiled in a devastating conflict for nearly 19 months, pitting General Abdel Fattah al Burhan’s army and rival Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

The fighting has led to a humanitarian crisis, with millions displaced and thousands killed.

Human Rights Watch has documented numerous instances of targeting civilians, including women and children.

The group’s researchers have reported horrific accounts of sexual violence and extrajudicial killings.

The U.N. Security Council has been urged to take decisive action to protect civilians and deploy a peacekeeping mission to Sudan.

The international community has been largely preoccupied with other crises, such as the ongoing conflict in Israel and Gaza.

However, the situation in Sudan remains dire, with civilians bearing the brunt of the violence.

The U.S. and Saudi Arabia have made several attempts to broker a peace deal, but these efforts have so far been unsuccessful.

As the civil war continues, the future of Sudan remains uncertain.
