Nearly 300,000 people displaced in South Darfur since the outbreak of war

The Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC) in South Darfur State revealed the displacement of over 296,000 individuals since the outbreak of the war in the state in April last year.

Salih Abdulrahman, the Commissioner of Humanitarian Aid in the state, said in a report published on Thursday that the number of affected localities due to the war reached 12.

The report also highlighted that those displaced by the conflict in Nyala city are in dire need of food assistance. The report confirmed that the number of displaced individuals before the war was 515,513 people.

On his part, the Acting Governor of South Darfur State, Hamed Al Tajani, stated in a social media post that a meeting was held in the presence of the Acting Commissioner of Humanitarian Aid (HAC), representatives of the World Food Programme (WFP), and partners from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to discuss the critical humanitarian situation and to mobilize assistance for the displaced and war-affected individuals, with coordination between relevant ministries, the Federal Government Council, Darfur region, and various organizations.
