SLFA leader urges Burhan-allied forces to rethink conflict role

Sudan Liberation Forces Alliance (SLFA) leader Taher Hajar has publicly urged Burhan-aligned rebels to reconsider their involvement in the ongoing conflict, saying they’ve made “wrong choices.”

His comments were made in a conciliatory address alongside Rapid Support Forces (RSF) commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo “Hemedti.”

In a Facebook post, Hajar, a former member of Sudan’s Sovereignty Council, stated, “What is happening to our comrades in Port Sudan at the hands of remnants of the former regime is the result of wrong choices we have repeatedly warned against.

The war you have entered is not your war, and political solutions were possible.”

Hajar’s remarks come amid heightened political tensions in Port Sudan over a new government’s formation.

Dagalo himself downplayed his conflict with leaders of the Sudan Liberation Army and Justice and Equality Movements, Minni Arko Minawi and Gibril Ibrahim, emphasizing his battle is solely with General al-Burhan’s army (SAF).

“We have no problem with Minni and Jibril.

If they come today, we welcome them,” Dagalo said during a recent appearance before his troops.

Hajar and other leaders notably joined the Sudan Foundation Alliance (SFA), which is largely aligned with the RSF, last February.

Hajar concluded with a plea to his “comrades,” urging them: “Do not be fuel for an eternal war.

A return to wisdom is still possible, and your struggle must be directed toward building peace, not igniting fires.”
