SPLM slams Islamic Movement leader for war mongering

Yassir Arman, leader of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) – Revolutionary Current, has delivered a direct and forceful message to Ali Karti, Secretary-General of the Islamic Movement (Sudanese Muslim Brotherhood), titled “To Ali Karti: Revolution Lasts Longer Than War.”

The message is Arman’s response to recent comments by Karti, who called for the extension of the ongoing civil war, a stance that Arman criticizes as a blatant disregard for the suffering of Sudanese civilians amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis.

Arman condemned Karti’s call to prolong the war, pointing out that such statements overlook the dire humanitarian catastrophe affecting citizens, including the sick, displaced, and refugees. He also questioned Karti’s motivations, noting that he emerged only after a prolonged silence to express support for the war, raising concerns about his genuine concern for the Sudanese people’s welfare.

Furthermore, Arman accused Karti of seemingly thirsting for the continuation of the conflict while General al-Burhan’s forces (SAF) is accused of various war crimes.

Arman stressed that Karti’s remarks reflect a lack of awareness of the grim reality facing the people, underlining the need for peaceful solutions rather than perpetuating an endless cycle of war.

In his message, Arman highlighted Sudan’s urgent need for peace and stability, emphasizing the creation of a state that guarantees the rights of all citizens without discrimination. He also called for the establishment of an efficient and professional armed force.

Arman reaffirmed that the December Revolution will endure in the face of challenges, coups, and conflicts, likening it to the phoenix that rises from the ashes of suffering.

In conclusion, Arman reiterated that the revolution embodies the true hope for building a new Sudan based on the principles of peace and justice, reflecting the Sudanese people’s aspirations for a brighter future
