The 2018 Revitalized Peace Agreement in South Sudan faces a “serious risk” of collapse unless regional powers intervene to stop escalating violence and political repression, the UN Commission on Human Rights in South Sudan warned Friday.
Commission Chair Yasmin Sooka stated the peace agreement is “in crisis,” with renewed violence pushing it “to the brink of irrelevance” and threatening further fragmentation of the country.
