US envoy leads Cairo talks to push Sudan ceasefire crisis efforts

A fast-moving diplomatic push is unfolding in Cairo as international and regional powers intensify efforts to contain Sudan’s war.

The US envoy is leading intensive talks in Cairo on the Sudanese crisis, with Senior US advisor Massad Boulos and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty holding high-level consultations aimed at advancing urgent de-escalation efforts.

The discussions mark the third consecutive day of intensive engagement, underscoring a widening diplomatic drive to halt the conflict and confront its deepening humanitarian consequences.

Over the weekend, Abdel-Aty broadened the initiative through a four-way meeting with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and Turkey, where regional coordination focused on securing a sustainable humanitarian truce.

The Quadrilateral Mechanism continues work on a structured political roadmap aimed at breaking the deadlock and restoring a viable negotiation track.

Boulos reaffirmed Washington’s position that the conflict cannot be resolved militarily, urging all parties to engage in inclusive political dialogue as the only sustainable path forward.
