The UAE Ports Authority, acting on instructions from the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, has issued a formal decision to stop all maritime exchanges with Sudan. The order suspends sailing permits for Emirati vessels bound for Port Sudan and bans the movement of Sudan-related cargo through UAE ports and terminals, including transit shipments.
The directive was communicated in a circular from AD Ports Group’s Sustainability Unit to all marine operators, cargo complexes, and operating divisions nationwide. It mandates immediate enforcement, tighter oversight, and prompt reporting of any non-compliance or operational issues to the Harbor Master department.
While the circular gave no official rationale, maritime and logistics sources said the measures could widen to air and land freight, with possible curbs on trucks and Sudan-linked goods moving through other regional crossings.
