TASIS opened new chapter in Sudan: JEM leader

Sudanese leader Suleiman Sandal Haggar declared the start of a “Second Republic,” saying it marks a new political chapter for the country. Haggar, who heads the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) and serves on the Sudan Founding Alliance leadership council (TASIS), made the announcement in Nyala.

He said the proclamation followed the sacrifices of Sudanese citizens and alliance forces, adding that it represents a shift from decades of instability. Haggar, argued that the Second Republic rises from the collapse of the First Republic, which he said left behind war, racism and underdevelopment.

He added that removing the influence of the Port Sudan SAF junta and General Abdel Fattah al Burhan-allied armed factions is necessary to reunify Sudan under one government.

According to Haggar, the new republic will prioritise unity, freedom, peace, justice and equality, with sovereignty placed firmly in the hands of the people. He stressed that Sudanese citizens must control their natural resources and benefit directly from the country’s economic wealth.

The JEM leader said the liberation process would continue “swift as a sharp sword,” driven by the will and determination of the Sudanese. He concluded that the people are committed to completing what he described as a project of radical and comprehensive political change.
