RSF-linked council plans Darfur civil service conference

The head of the Higher Council for Civil Administrations affiliated with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), Huzayfa Abu Nuba, says preparations are underway for a general civil service conference in areas under RSF control, according to the South Darfur civil administration’s press office.

Abu Nuba said the gathering aims to set out a “new vision” for public administration as part of building “a new Sudan,” adding that, “for the first time,” federalism would be applied clearly by appointing local residents to run their states in RSF-held territories.

He said the council had worked to maintain security and restore state institutions, crediting civil service cadres in RSF areas with carrying much of the load. He framed the “strategic battle” as one of state-building.

Abu Nuba also accused governors operating from Port Sudan of obstructing executive bodies in their states, saying more than 500 civil servants were suspended in South Darfur after RSF-aligned civil administrations were formed.
