Iranian state television has broadcast a video targeting Barron Trump, the youngest son of US President Donald Trump, while claiming that a $10 million reward has been offered for reaching or killing him.
The US Secret Service confirmed on Tuesday that it was aware of the video and was treating the broadcast as a potential threat against one of its protectees.
“The U.S. Secret Service is aware of the video and investigates anything that can be perceived as a threat toward our protectees,” agency spokesman Nate Herring said, adding that officials would not discuss protective intelligence for security reasons.
The roughly three-minute segment, aired on Iran’s state-run Channel 3 and circulated by media affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, focused on the 20-year-old president’s son and purported to show efforts to track his movements and identify weaknesses in his security.
The broadcast claimed Barron Trump was being “fully monitored” and showed what it said were locations connected to his university, escort vehicles and Secret Service personnel. It also referred to a $10 million reward connected to efforts targeting him.
The operational claims and the existence of any genuine bounty have not been independently verified. Iran International said the programme relied heavily on dramatized graphics and presented no evidence that anyone had successfully penetrated Barron Trump’s security.
The broadcast represents an escalation in Iranian state-linked threats against Trump and members of his family.
Iranian media have repeatedly circulated material threatening the US president and his relatives since the killing of former Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei at the start of the US-Israeli war against Iran in February.
Previous Iranian state-linked broadcasts have focused on First Lady Melania Trump and Donald Trump himself, including material purporting to map their movements and identify potential security vulnerabilities.
US authorities have also accused Iran and individuals linked to the Revolutionary Guards of plotting attacks against current and former American officials in retaliation for the 2020 US strike that killed Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani.
The latest broadcast comes as tensions between Washington and Tehran intensify further, with the Trump administration expanding economic pressure on Iran and threatening sweeping secondary sanctions against countries and companies that continue doing business with the Islamic Republic.
