An Iranian news agency linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has sparked widespread condemnation after publishing an AI-generated video outlining hypothetical assassination scenarios targeting US First Lady Melania Trump and her son, Barron.
The two-minute video, released by Iran’s Tasnim News Agency under the title “Where Can Melania Be Killed?”, appeared to identify potential vulnerabilities in the first lady’s movements and personal routines.
It listed the names and addresses of luxury shops in New York that Melania allegedly frequents and referred to details concerning her US Secret Service codename and the security measures used to protect her from explosive devices.
The video also presented several potential methods of attack, including contaminating clothing in luxury stores with VX, a highly lethal nerve agent. It additionally suggested bribing or recruiting members of Melania’s hair and beauty team to assist in an operation.
The clip concluded with an explicit threat directed at the president’s youngest son, stating: “Barron Trump, wait for us.”
The publication comes amid sharply escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran.
US President Donald Trump has previously warned that he has issued orders for overwhelming military retaliation against Iran should Tehran be linked to an assassination attempt targeting members of his family or senior American officials.
Neither the Iranian government nor the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps immediately commented publicly on whether the video reflected an official position.
Tasnim is widely regarded as being close to the Revolutionary Guard, although content published by the agency does not necessarily constitute a formal statement by the Iranian state.
