U.S. President Donald Trump said Iran would ultimately have no option but to retreat, insisting that American military operations were progressing well and that Washington would continue carrying out powerful strikes.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump said the United States was continuing to achieve victories against Iran.
“What we can do is keep winning, and eventually something will happen with Iran,” he said.
Trump argued that sustained military pressure was producing positive results and would eventually force Tehran to back down.
The U.S. military has resumed strikes on Iran in response to attacks by Tehran against American forces in the region following a week-long lull, raising fears of a broader conflict across the Middle East as Iran-backed armed groups become increasingly involved.
Iranian state media reported attacks on Thursday in the southern city of Abadan and on Qeshm Island, where rescue teams were searching for two people believed to be trapped beneath the rubble of a house.
The conflict began with a joint U.S.-Israeli attack on Iran on February 28. Fighting largely stopped in April, despite several reported violations, and the ceasefire was reinforced by a memorandum of understanding signed by the two sides in mid-June.
The agreement collapsed on July 7, however, and both sides resumed strikes amid continuing disputes, particularly over the Strait of Hormuz.
Washington has since attacked targets inside Iran, while Tehran has retaliated against U.S.-allied countries, including Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan, claiming to have targeted military bases.
Iran also launched missiles toward Jordan early Wednesday, marking the first such attack since a temporary halt in strikes on the night of July 24.
