UAE Vice President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan met Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Riyadh on Tuesday for talks on bilateral relations and regional developments, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
The meeting, attended by Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman, brought together senior officials from both countries as they discussed relations and developments across the region.
Sheikh Mansour, who also serves as the UAE’s deputy prime minister and chairman of the Presidential Court, travelled to Saudi Arabia at the invitation of Prince Khalid.
The visit comes amid efforts to ease tensions between the two Gulf powers following disagreements over Yemen, where their competing interests have strained relations.
Saudi Arabia previously accused the UAE of supporting southern Yemeni separatists in actions that threatened its national security, prompting the withdrawal of Emirati forces from the country.
The Emirati delegation included Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi, secretary-general of the Supreme Council for National Security, and Ali Saeed Matar Al Neyadi, chairman of the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority.
Nasser Humaid Al Nuaimi, secretary-general of the Tawazun Council for Defence Enablement, was also among the officials accompanying Sheikh Mansour.
WAM did not provide details of the regional issues discussed or announce any agreements resulting from the meeting.
Sheikh Mansour departed Saudi Arabia following the talks and was seen off by Prince Khalid and other Saudi officials.
