RSF adviser predicts major shifts in battlefield dynamics

An adviser to Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo has signaled imminent shifts in Sudan’s battlefield dynamics, citing recent victories by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) over General al-Burhan’s forces (SAF) in the capital.

Speaking to Sputnik Radio, RSF leader’s adviser, Pasha Mohamed Tobiq, claimed that the Sudanese force had secured significant gains in four battles, destroying multiple tanks and seizing combat vehicles.

“The RSF now holds key strategic positions in Khartoum Bahri,” he said, adding that its forces are encircling the Signal Corps, downtown Khartoum, the Republican Palace, and the army’s General Command and Air Defense sites. Beyond the capital, he asserted, the RSF is advancing in regions including El Fasher, the Blue Nile, Al-Jazira, North Kordofan, and parts of the desert.

Tobiq characterized Dagalo’s latest speech as one of confidence, suggesting it foreshadows further battlefield gains. However, he acknowledged that the SAF had entered Um Rawaba but maintained that RSF units remained active in the area and continued to besiege El-Obeid.

“The RSF possesses the means to achieve major victories,” he said.

The Sudanese conflict, which erupted in April 2023, has pitted the RSF against the SAF in a brutal power struggle, devastating cities and displacing millions.
